Central Valley Internet LLC does not block, throttle or favor lawful internet traffic. We publish this disclosure under the FCC's transparency rule (47 C.F.R. § 8.1) and California's Internet Consumer Protection and Net Neutrality Act of 2018 (SB 822).
Network practices
- No blocking. We do not block lawful content, applications, services or non-harmful devices.
- No throttling. We do not slow down lawful traffic based on its source, destination, content, application or device.
- No port blocking. We do not block any ports.
- No paid or affiliated prioritization. We do not accept payment to favor anyone's traffic, and we do not favor our own or affiliated content.
- No data caps or zero-rating. Every plan includes unlimited data. Since nothing counts against a cap, no app or service is exempted from one.
- Speed tiers. Each plan is rate-limited to its advertised download and upload speed (for example, 200/50 Mbps). That limit applies equally to all traffic on the connection.
Congestion management
Each tower and wireless link has a fixed amount of capacity. When a link is busy, all traffic on it shares the available capacity, and speeds may drop for every customer on it. We do not single out particular applications, content or customers. We respond to recurring congestion by adding capacity and upgrading equipment.
Security
To protect the network and our customers, we may act against traffic that is actively attacking the network, such as a denial-of-service attack. Such action is temporary, aimed only at the harmful traffic, and is not used to limit lawful content.
Devices
Our outdoor radio and router are included with every plan. You may connect any lawful device behind our equipment, such as computers, phones, game consoles, cameras and your own Wi-Fi gear, as long as it does not harm the network or other customers.
Public IP addresses
Depending on your connection, you may have your own public IP address or share one with other customers through carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT). Shared addresses work for browsing, streaming, gaming and video calls, but can prevent hosting servers, port forwarding and some remote-access or peer-to-peer apps. A static public IP is available on any plan for $15.00 a month.
Performance
CVI provides fixed wireless service: a radio mounted on your building connects to one of our towers. Typical performance for each plan:
| Plan | Typical download | Typical upload | Typical latency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 200 Mbps | 50 Mbps | 6–30 ms |
| Performance | 300 Mbps | 50 Mbps | 6–30 ms |
| Pro | 400 Mbps | 50 Mbps | 6–30 ms |
| Ultra | 500 Mbps | 50 Mbps | 6–30 ms |
| Rural Starter | 200 Mbps | 50 Mbps | 6–30 ms |
| Rural Performance | 300 Mbps | 50 Mbps | 6–30 ms |
| Rural Pro | 400 Mbps | 50 Mbps | 6–30 ms |
| Rural Ultra | 500 Mbps | 50 Mbps | 6–30 ms |
This latency is suitable for real-time applications such as video calls, internet phone service and online gaming. Actual performance at your home can vary with weather, line of sight (trees and new buildings), radio interference, network load, your Wi-Fi and the devices you use.
